Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/OFPosition Projection

05/15/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Brady is a strong catching prospect for the class of 2023 who presents ability on both the defensive and offensive sides of the game. Defensively, he shows strong wrists with and awareness of how to use his hands to maneuver the baseball in the receiving process to present borderline strikes in the advantage of his pitcher. Primarily using a one-knee down catching stance with no one on base he shows the mobility to hold the position and present a strong target for his pitcher and allowing him to work under low strikes. With a runner on base he switches to a traditional two knees up stance where he presents a good target and has the agility and footwork to block and work into the throwing position quickly. His transfer is quick with an efficient movement into the throwing motion and with an online accurate arm he will be a weapon in controlling the running game as he goes up and his arm continues to add strength to an 87-MPH raw arm strength reading. Offensively, Brady has a compact LH stroke that he shows a strong feel for the barrel during batting practice and game sessions by being able to get on plane early on the backside and with good balance and feel for his body he stays through the hitting zone well. He works to the opposite side of the field with a line drive approach, but his bat speed shows the ability to turn on pitches and elevate the baseball with authority from the pull-side gap to the pull-side foul line and will continue to add more consistent home run power as he matures and adds increased strength and awareness to his approach. Overall, Brady is a strong potential 2-way catcher who can hit and handle the position defensively at an average to above average college level potential.

11/03/2019 - College PREP - Potomac, MD Brady is a lean RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls but needs to take better routes / angles. He makes the routine play but will benefit by working to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. At the plate he shows a tall, squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-76 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Brady has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
