Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Brady is a talented 1B/RHP that will graduate in 2025. At 1B, Brady showed effective footwork to the ball showing plus range to the back hand side. He presents a confident glove as he fields and shows a loose arm action getting rid of the ball. The throws are accurate and online to the target. At the dish, Brady showed an athletic and tall set up taking a short stride to launch the swing. He keeps his balance centered as he fires the lower half getting the barrel on plane consistently. He makes consistent contact showing a line drive approach working both gaps. On the mound, Brady shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CB combo. The FB was 74-77 with some sink and the CB was 2-8 with late movement. Pitching, he gathers over the rubber well separating his hands on time with a clean arm action. He works down hill well landing under control and creates good extension as he rotates to the target. Overall, Brady shows a ton of upside and potential to grow into his game and improve.

08/30/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Wilmington, DE Brady is a very talented 2-way player (1B/LHP) who can make things happen on the diamond. At 1B, he has active prep as he comes to get the ball. He presents his glove, fields the ball with soft hands and gathers well. He moves well around the bag and has the ability to pick it. With the bat, this lefty shows a tall stance with rhythm to load. He whips the barrel with + speed, connects with pop creating consistent/hard contact (exit velocity = 81 mph). On the mound, this LHP has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. He works tall, has smooth separation and repeats his delivery well. Arm works loose/free as he commands the zone. FB tops out at 75 mph while showing good tail. Breaking ball shows 1/7 shape with good action. Changeup has good sink and will get GB outs. Thompson is a skilled athlete who has a bright future ahead in the game.

08/23/2020 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Brady continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing, driving the ball deep when centered. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/11/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Wilmington, DE Brady is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, Brady has efficient footwork to the ball, he fields squarely, and keeps it in front of his body. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws on a downhill plane with consistency to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance over the rubber and a clean arm circle. He works well to his balance point, lands with good direction, and competes in the zone. At the plate, Brady has a square set-up, a square stride toward the pitcher, and he swings a level stick. He swings aggressively and show the ability to spray the baseball to all fields. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
