10/18/2017 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Brandon is a horse of a RHP who looks like he can lead a staff at the next level. He is always working around the zone with great feel for each of his pitches and has the ability to mix and change speeds well. His fastball shows improved life in the mid 80's which he features heavily and compliments it with a sharp breaking curve, slider and deceptive change. He has a bulldog presence on the mound, going right after hitters and dictating the game to them. He holds runners well by varying his pace and being quick to the plate. His slider is his go to pitch to get strike outs and can generate lots of swings and misses. Brandon has the making of a complete pitcher who can be very effective at the next level.

07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Brandon is a tall, lanky RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, he shows a sound / repeatable delivery that allows his quick arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength is solid as indicated by his top velocity of 82 mph. Fastball shows a range of 79-82 mph with sinking action and gets a lot of ground balls. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around and plays through balls with his body. He moves well laterally. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Hands / feet work well together and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. He is a patient hitter with a strong recognition of the strike zone as he drew 4 BB at the event. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude, works hard, and is a student of the game. With 2 years to further develop, Brandon has a big upside on the mound and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
