08/02/2015 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Brandon is a tall, lean RHP/1B that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond at both positions. Defensive abilities are slightly above average as he displays solid foot work around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to get around ground balls and squares up well. Hands are soft /sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Defensive abilities will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and works to keep hands inside the ball utilizing all fields. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph. Changeup is best off speed pitch as he shows a feel for with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Brandon has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to develop, possibly as a two-way guy.
