01/21/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Brandon continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Behind the plate, pop times in the 2.21 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process and centers balls well out front.

08/13/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Brandon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, hitting potential has improved through a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side.

01/29/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Brandon is a lean, athletic prospect who shows versatility by playing SS and behind the plate. He is an advanced defensive catcher who blocks and receives well and is an asset to the pitchers on the mound. He is quiet in his setup with soft hands to receive and block, deadening the ball to center and moving well laterally to block. He works around the ball to keep pitches in the zone and has a quick exchange and release to throw accurately to the bases. At short, he centers the ball to field, taking good angles to extend his range His feet work well laterally and he has an accurate arm on throws and feeds. His setup is tall and square at the dish with quiet actions, keeping his head down through his swing. He works on a level path to the ball and is able to spray the ball to all fields for base hits. Driving through his lower half will generate more bat speed and power to turn more balls in play into base hits. Brandon is a prospect we would like to keep watching as he progresses.

12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Brandon continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he continues to show best. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange. Pop times showed in the low 2.30 range. Times will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well in the blocking process and moves well laterally.

08/14/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Brandon continues to excel on the field as a C/SS. This backstop, sits athletically in his stance with good feel to receive, block and throw. His athleticism really shows as he cuts angles on dirt balls, allowing him to center off his chest and be soft. His eyes work behind the baseball well with good base sway and strong wrist to work underneath with good pocket awareness. Transfer/exchange repeats with good transition of lower half and consistently putting ball on bag with proper momentum. Pop times were consistently 2.3 but adding more arm strength will assist in lowering his pop time average. At SS, Brandon is active with his pre-pitch preparation as he maintains good rhythm to work lateral and center the baseball. He makes routine plays flashing good feel for the position with his accurate arm. In the box, he is simple with his load as he works to be on time with every pitch and maintain good balance. Brandon has good feel for the barrel as he sprays the ball, showing the ability to square up the baseball and drive the ball on a line. Overall, this 2018 grad has a good foundation of skills and time to develop in the next two seasons.

01/31/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Brandon continues to work hard and make great strides in his game. Behind the dish, he sits in with athletic actions and sway, tracking the pitches into a soft mitt. He moves well laterally and bodies up pitches in the dirt, centering the ball off of his chest. Transfer/exchange is clean as he puts the ball on the bag - pop times now at 2.20. Continuing to strengthen his arm will help pop times to continue to drop. At SS, Brandon has active pre-pitch actions moving well on the balls of his feet. He takes good angles working around the GB and moving from right to left. He funnels smoothly and works in-line toward 1B. As a hitter - this righty shows a balanced approach as he tracks the ball into the zone. He barrels the ball up and looks to drive the middle of the field. More power potential is there if he can work to swing on a shorter/more direct path and engage more of his lower 1/2. This 2018 grad has a solid skill-set with still time to progress.

Power numbers will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. Pop times behind the plate were in the low 2.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills shows a playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

08/09/2015 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Brandon is a young (2018 grad) R/R 2-way player as a C/SS. At the plate, this RHH shows a square setup with rhythm to load. Only a 2018 grad - Brandon has upside with still a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
