02/26/2012 - College PREP - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Brandon is an athletic and young 2-way player as a RHP/2B. On the mound, he delivers from a high 3/4 arm slot and a short arm action. He gets to a tall balanced point, keeps his eyes on the target, and lands square to the plate. His CB has 10/5 shape and his CH is around the zone. Mound effectiveness will improve if he can throw more strikes and increase his arm strength. Defensively, he fields in a low/athletic position and presents his glove out front. He has a clean transfer/exchange and he makes accurate throws. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup, decent rhythm, and a middle of the field approach. He is a contact type hitter and will benefit if he can increase his bat speed. Brandon is a solid player for his age and will continue to improve as he works hard.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
