Official Scouting Report

11/19/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Pearland (Houston), TX Brandon is a broad, strong 2018 two-way player who shows skills both as a pitcher and third baseman. He can really swing it with feel for the barrel and gap to gap ability that makes him a tough out. He is balanced in the box with fluid actions and quick hands through the zone. His bat path is level with good bat speed and a strong lower half that generates pop to make consistent, square contact. At third, he gets to an athletic ready position and reacts quickly to the ball off the bat. He fields with firm hands, funneling the ball in and has a clean exchange to make strong feeds and throws. Gaining momentum and following his throws will improve velocity and help him make close plays. On the bump, he is fluid in his delivery with repeatable mechanics to show consistent stuff and control. He features a fastball with tail in the upper 60's along with a 10-4 curve and a deceptive. Brandon is an intriguing prospect we definitely want to keep an eye on.

08/03/2017 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Brandon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-73 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. At 3B, hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

02/19/2017 - College PREP - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Brandon is a strong 2018 RHP prospect. He shows a clean, repeatable delivery on the mound with the ability to get to a consistent release point and utilize each of his three pitches. He shows good balance throughout his delivery as he works down the mound deliberately and separates on time to keep his arm and body in sync. His mix includes a fastball up to 71mph, a 10-4 curve and a mid 60's changeup to keep hitters off balance. Working on driving in line to the plate with his lower half will result in an uptick in his stuff. At the dish, he shows an activated load to a powerful bat angle to het on plane early and keep the barrel in the zone. His lower half works well to generate bat speed and pop and he can spray the ball to all fields for hits. Brandon is a prospect we look forward to watching as he continues to improve in all aspects of his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
