06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Brandon is an athletic, lean built SS/RHP prospect who has an above average skill on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Brandon has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and short, square stride. Brandon shows fast bat speed with a direct, on-plane swing path consistently landing the barrel to the baseball. He maintains a simple line drive approach and has the power to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Brandon plays with fluid rhythm and active footwork with agile body actions. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, athletic position with soft hands. Brandon has a quick, clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball and has a quick release showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. On the mound, Brandon has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick, clean arm action and extends through his release with a controlled, square landing. He does a nice job engaging his core and rotating towards his target as he finishes. Brandon commands his fastball with good tail movement at 84-89 MPH. His changeup is deceptive with arm side run and his curveball shows solid depth. Overall, Brandon is a talented prospect who has the ability to be a difference maker at the next level.

09/24/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West Brandon is the rare high school shortstop prospect who appears to have the ability to stay there at higher levels. In the infield he showed smooth actions, played low and had soft, sure hands. He also demonstrated the ability to exchange the ball quickly and get it out to 1B with carry to his throws (86 mph arm strength). His actions were smooth and athletic throughout. At the plate Brandon employed a loose, easy swing that was very good through the hitting zone. He had excellent head discipline and used the whole field well. He was also able to carry his batting practice into the game (1-2, BB). Committed to Stanford, Brandon is a complete player who plays a premium position - an exciting combination.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
