12/27/2018 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Brandon is a tall 3B/C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Increasing his lateral range can help Brandon improve as a 3B. Behind the plate, Brandon shows active footwork and uses his body to block well. He sits in a low stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to 2B. Brandon can improve as a C by getting rid of the ball quicker. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Brandon improve as a hitter. Overall, Brandon is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Brandon is a tall, lanky 3B/C who will graduate in 2020. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Behind the plate, pop times shows a range of 2.65.2.75 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and he is willing to make adjustments. With 2 years to further develop, Brandon has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
