Official Scouting Report

  • SSPosition Projection

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Hunt only showed at SS at the event but has improved his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, feet are active as he works on squaring balls up and makes the routine plays. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack ground balls and play through while presenting hands more out front. Throws are accurate, but needs to build more arm strength and work to get rid of the ball quicker to improve arm grade. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard, showing a desire to be the best player he can be.

07/31/2012 - Baseball Factory Select Training at Vero Beach Brandon is a young SS/RHP that will graduate in 2015. At SS, feet are active as he works around balls and makes the routine plays, displaying clean hands. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to play through balls more and present hands out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Hunt shows a balanced approach with rhythm. He tracks the ball well and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve he needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more and keep two hands on the bat through contact. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 64-66 mph with stock rising on the mound as he develops off speed pitches. With 3 years to further develop, Brandon has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
