Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

10/12/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Brandon is a young 1B/LHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Brandon shows active footwork and gets into a low position. He fields out in front with soft hands and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to this target. Quickening his exchange can help Brandon improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance with his hands held low. He works into a small load and is coordinated with his hips and hands, leading to solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Brandon improve as a hitter. On the mound, Brandon starts with a simple rock step and gathers to a balance point over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm, staying inline towards the plate. Brandon shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph. Breaking ball sits from 52-53mph. Changeup sits at 53-54mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Brandon can improve as a pitcher by finishing with his chest over his front knee. With four more years to develop, Brandon has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
