Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Brandon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 67 mph. Fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/17/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kansas City, KS Brandon is an athletic LHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Brandon shows a repeatable delivery as he comes to a balance point over the rubber and works with a clean arm action. He keeps his eyes on target and stays inline towards the plate. Brandon shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 64mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits at 50-52mph with 2-8 break. Changeup ranges from 52-54mph with sinking action. In the field, Brandon flashes good footwork and makes the routine plays. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and maintains center balance. He is smooth getting into his load and takes a direct swing to the ball. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Earlier separation
2. Extend on release
3. Longer Stride
Fielding
1. Atheltic fielding position
2. Lower hand position
3. Quicker arm
Hitting
1. Square stride
2. Lower half drive
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
