08/20/2017 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Brandon is a tall, athletic 1B/RHP who has bright future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.31. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Actions are quick / smooth and he presents a soft / sure glove well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on the 3-6-3 double play as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting / power potential. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing. Working to get stride foot down to work on time will aid in improving hitting grade. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and late break. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Brandon has the makings of a special type player with time and room to improve his baseball abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
