07/15/2011 - Team One South 2011 Brandon is an athletic two-way player at 3B and on the mound that will graduate in 2012. Currently, he projects only at 3B for the next level. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.25 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through well with his body. He moves well laterally, displaying range. Hands are soft, clean, and sure displaying solid glove action as he makes all the plays. Throws are accurate with life and carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Offensively, Phillips shows a balanced approach with lower half working well through his swing. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. At the event, he was 1 for 1 with a 2B and BB. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-78 mph with sinking action. Off speed pitches are average to slightly above, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Brandon has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his offensive and defensive abilities.
