Official Scouting Report

12/17/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Madison (NYC), NJ Brandon showed nice overall improvements in his last workout. Arm, fielding, and hitting grades all spiked. At SS, Brandon has a good idea, he makes plays, and he moves well to the ball. He keeps the ball in front, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Brandon showed improvements as well. He has a repeatable delivery, works in good tempo, and has good direction toward home. Brandon has a controlled landing and good run on his pitches. At the plate, Brandon has a simple swing, good balance, and a short/square stride. He has a short/direct barrel to the ball and makes consistent/solid contact.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Brandon continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Hands are clean and present well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/ turn of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through a tall, athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 69 mph. Fastball showed a range of 65-67 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

07/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Brandon is a tall, athletic SS/RHP. Defensively at SS, he takes active angles as he works into an athletic fielding position. He fields the ball with soft hands and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the hill, this righty gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He commands his FB in the zone as he works in line and finishes strong towards home plate. With the bat, Brandon shows a balanced/athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. He explodes his lower 1/2 through creating hard contact and drives pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Follow flip on DP's
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Stronger frontside
2. Separate on time
3. Develop CH
Offense
1. Front foot timing
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level out swing path more

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
