Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

07/26/2011 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Brandon showed similar abilities on the mound and also worked in the OF in Trenton, NJ. On the hill, Brandon has a loose arm action, good, a controlled balance point, and smooth separation. He has good glove side lead, level shoulders, and he repeats his delivery well. Brandon mixes his pitches well and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. More extension, sharpening his off-speed, and adding arm strength will help improve mound effectiveness. In the OF, Brandon has playable hands and feet and he makes the routine play. He has a loose arm action and delivers the ball with decent accuracy and strength. Offensively, Brandon has has a square set-up, a short / square stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, quick hands, and he makes hard contact. Brandon has pop in his bat and makes okay use of his lower 1/2.

10/20/2010 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2010 Brandon is a tall right-handed pitcher with a repeatable delivery. At the Arizona Junior Fall Classic, he was around the plate in his outing, displaying good poise and staying on line with his upper body. His arm speed needs to quicken to provide better life on all of his pitches. He should see improvement in his arm speed with better use of his lower half. Would like to see him stay closed with his front hip longer and accelerate his back him through on the back side of his delivery. He will see more improvement as he works on overall strength and conditioning. Showed a good attitude over the course of the weekend.

03/21/2010 - National Tryout - Hightstown, NJ Brandon is a young, big, RHP that showed similar skills as he did in 9/09 at the Accelerated Pitching Weekend. Brandon has sound mechanics and is around the plate with all of his pitches. He has good control with his CH and it has nice A/S run. A higher arm slot, added arm strength, and more finish / extension will help Brandon improve on the mound as he grows and further matures. Offensively, Brandon has a level swing and has pop in his bat when he centers up the ball. His power grade improved from 42 to 45 since his last workout. Brandon will need to keep his hands high, work on transferring his weight more properly, and use more lower 1/2 in order for offensive tool grades to get better.

08/22/2009 - College PREP - Purchase, NY Brandon is a young, 2012 graduate that shows as a RHP with a large body that shows projection as he polishes and firms up. Delivery shows in line direction but needs work to polish up on mechanics. Arm strength is average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. Fastball shows a range of 78-80 mph with life. Changeup is best off speed pitch showing good feel with little run. Breaking ball is near average displaying 11/5 shape, loose spin, with early break and needs further development to be a quality pitch at the next level. He throws strikes with all his pitches with stock on the mound rising as more arm strength is developed. With 3 years to further develop, Brandon has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
