Official Scouting Report

  • CPosition Projection

08/23/2014 - College PREP - Purchase, NY Simone continues to shine. He threw his best pop at 1.96, putting the ball on a line. He puts his athleticism on display behind the dish with plus lateral actions. At the plate, he has simple approach with fluid rhythm. He stays through the ball, driving the barrel and using the entire field. He hits the ball where it's pitched and will be a run producer. Brandon is a hard worker who will play at a high level.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Brandon has molded himself into a solid prospect behind the dish. With a strong arm and pop times in the lows 2's runners will be hesitant to steal. He gets around the ball in the dirt, smothering it and centering it off of his chest. At the plate, Brandon shows a solid setup with good balance. He jumps on his pitch and drives it to all parts of the field. He barrels the ball up consistently (going 4 for 8 with 3 singles and a double. Simone has a bright future in the game thanks to his all-around solid skill-set.

11/09/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) Brandon has a strong athletic body that works well throughout the swing. When Brandon's contact points are correct he makes hard consistent contact, and drives the baseball well to all fields. If he continues to work on contact points, he will see cleaner contact and more consistent power. Also Brandon needs to work on driving his top hand through contact, this swill speed up his barrel at contact providing more barrel speed leading to more hard line drives.

08/24/2013 - College PREP - West Harrison, NY Brandon is a strong catcher that will graduate in 2015. As a backstop, he is quiet to receive, sticks pitches and takes good angles to block. He is quick and fluid with his feet and gains ground to throw - flashing pop times as low as 2.16 seconds. Offensively, he shows present bat speed, is a good tracker and has a contact approach. Overall - the 6'/175 lbs C projects very well as a catch and throw guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
