Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

05/05/2019 - College PREP - Bryan (College Station), TX Brandon is a tall RHP/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Brandon gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and extends through his release. Brandon shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph with arm side run. Cutter shows good 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 74-76mph with sinking action. In the field, Brandon takes good angles and makes the routine plays. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone, leading to loud contact and solid power. Overall, Brandon is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Brandon is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Brandon shows efficient footwork and covers ground well. He fields with firm hands and has a clean exchange to throw, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Brandon can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load well and takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid gap to gap pop. Brandon can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Brandon keeps his eyes on his target throughout his motion and rides his back leg well. His fastball tops out at 69mph with cutting action. Brandon can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber in his motion. Overall, Brandon is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/22/2017 - College PREP - Conroe (Houston), TX Brandon is a tall, solid RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.35. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid power potential through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls, tracking balls to glove. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break and loose spin. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Brandon has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
