Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/3BPosition Projection

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Brandon is a coachable C/3B prospect who hustled all over the field during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Brandon shows active footwork and covers well when blocking balls in the dirt. He sits in a low stance and receives the ball with soft hands. He has clean exchange with a quick release on his throws and keeps them accurate and on-line to 2B. Brandon can improve as a C by improving his secondary stance. At 3B, Brandon shows a good prep step with good hands and plenty of arm strength across the diamond. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He comes through well with his lower half and produces explosive bat speed. His direct swing to the ball leads to hard contact and solid pop. Brandon can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Brandon is a talented prospect who has the skills that will translate well to the next level.

04/09/2017 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Brandon is tall catcher with a strong lower half and a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.99. Behind the plate, pop times showed a range of 2.08-2.28 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Arm strength (84 mph velocity) is outstanding with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry through his target. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. He has strength (83 mph exit velocity) in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Brandon has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
