12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Vidal is a 2018 RHP/OF that showed potential at the Recruiting Classic. On the mound, the right-hander showed a three pitch mix from a 3/4 arm slot displaying good arm action to go along with a delivery that features a proper pivot off the back foot with quality hip turn and glove tuck. The landing is square and controlled with full rotation to the target. Driving further and more aggressively to the target will allow Brandon greater extension on the release and add more life and action. Vidal's fastball-curveball mix are the top two pitches, with the breaking ball showing 11-5 shape. The change up is still developing but does show signs of sinking action with fastball arm speed. Defensively in the OF, Brandon showed efficient footwork and good body control as he attacked to charge balls. A good first step allows Vidal to work around the ball properly and development of a crow hop will add even more carry to presently accurate throws. At the plate, Vidal handles the ball down in the zone well and utilizes an approach that allows him to hit balls hard up the middle. There is bat speed present that will improve with better usage of the hips by avoiding drift in the box and being more explosive with proper timing. There is balance throughout Brandon's stroke and extension comes through the baseball in to a high finish. With years ahead to improve, Vidal's stock as a two-way player will continue to rise.

10/11/2015 - College PREP - Abilene, TX Brandon is an athletic (RHP/OF) who has a projectable frame (6'1"/150). On the mound, this righty has an effective 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, maintains level shoulders and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 74-76 mph as he works it to both sides of the plate for strikes. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with early action. By working on being more consistent with his release point - effectiveness of his CB will improve. Changeup is thrown with FB arm sped while showing slight sink (69-71 mph). He keeps the ball down in the zone which will result in GB outs. In the OF, Brandon has active footwork, a quick first step and he takes solid routes/angles to track down fly-balls. He has good range, gets into position behind the fly-ball and secures it with 2-hands. Playing through the ball and gaining more ground will help to improve skills in the OF. As a hitter - this switch hitter currently shows a little more naturally from the right side. He lets the ball travel into the zone and waits for his pitch. Swing path is level as he connects and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power. Brandon is a talented 2-way player who has a bright future ahead in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
