08/08/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Brandon is an athletically built 2 way player, who is graduating in 2017. He showed well on the mound, creating balance and working north to south well, staying in line to the plate. Throwing a mid to high 70's fastball and a curveball from a hi 3/4 arm angle, he attacked hitters and maintained good rhythm and pace. In the outfield, he tracks balls off the bat well, covering a lot of ground and catching the ball at its highest point. Offensively, his swing is connected well, staying short in his stride and in his hand path to the baseball. Constant repition will help keep his swing consistent and allow him to tap fully into his potential as a power hitter. Brandon is an exciting player who still has room to grow.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Brandon will lead by example on the baseball field by playing the game hard. A mechanically sound outfielder, Brandon works behind the ball, gets his momentum moving towards his target always, and makes strong, accurate throws. On the mound Brandon is aggressive, and mechanically solid, showing he can repeat his delivery and throw from a high 3/4 angle. Developing a 2 seam fastball would work wonders for Brandon, as his fastball already shows good velocity, but adding movement would be icing on the cake. At the plate, Brandon has an advanced knowledge of the strikezone and shows gap to gap and potential homerun power. Learning to activate his hands with a good load will make him a very exciting hitter. He will be an intriguing prospect to watch progress.

02/27/2016 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Brandon is a RHP who has a projectable frame (6'1"/165). On the mound, this righty has a 4-pitch arsenal coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works the ball in and out and throws strikes consistently. FB tops out at 74 mph while showing good sinking action. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with late action. Changeup has slight run - complimenting his FB well. Added velocity will come with more lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber and by finishing with more extension on his follow through. With the bat, Brandon shows a balanced/athletic setup with a solid base. He gets loaded, waits for his pitch and swings on a compact/level path. He barrels the ball up and drives the middle of the field. Watts is a strike thrower who will compete on the bump in this his junior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
