12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Darnell is a strong, athletic 2016 RHH OF that showed a hard-working approach at Pirate City. Defensively, Brantley shows efficient footwork with good body control while taking proper angles and displaying good hands on the catch. Playing through the ball with more fluidity and lower hips will benefit Darnell as he does shows a clean exchange and some carry on throws with accuracy. At the plate, Brantley shows simple and easy actions as he works from an open set up and activates the hands into a proper launch position. Balance is present throughout the swing which stays on a level path. Darnell's offensive production will increase through loosening the grip to start and staying more fluid throughout the stroke as that will allow for maximum bat speed through coordination of the hips and hands. Brantley is a take charge type of player with a charisma that is contagious and through continued hard work, he should be on track for a successful 2016 campaign.

09/20/2015 - College PREP - Knoxville, TN Brantley is a solid, strong OF that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a short / level swing path. He has strength in his swing with barrel accuracy, mainly the pull side. The baseball explodes off the bat when centered. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.15 60 time. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a loss toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker to improve arm grade. Brantley has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, especially at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
