12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Braxton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now solid through an open up. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He work to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 75-78 mph with sink. Breaking ball shows 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Control is outstanding as he pounds the zone and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/04/2020 - Baseball Factory Firecracker Classic 18U Braxton Dukes is a strong/athletic two-way player (LHP/OF) that showed consistency in all facets. In the OF, he worked athletically and quick to the ball, making plays with a presented glove and clean exchange. He threw with momentum to his targets and was accurate. At the plate, he had an open setup and comfortable hands. He worked his lower half through and was smooth with his swing. Contact was consistent and his approach was a spray type. On the mound, he threw a FB with command (staying down in the zone), a 1/7 CB with tight spin, and a CH with sink. He was sure in his setup and had a repeatable delivery. He finished with his chest over his front knee, allowing for that command of his stuff. In all - we have had the continued pleasure of working with Braxton and have witnessed his continued growth time and time again. We can't wait to see how he improves after this camp!

01/26/2020 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Braxton is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect that continue to improve. In the OF, Braxton is on time with his prep step, has an efficient first step to the ball, and he creates good angles. He plays through fly balls and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Braxton starts in an athletic stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he swings with intent. He has a quiet head, he attacks the inside part of the ball, and he rotates his backside. On the bump, Braxton gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a strong front side. He finds a balance point and rides his back leg down hill. He has slight run on his fastball, he has a tight spin on his breaking ball, and he throws his changeup down in the zone. Braxton is a hard worker and we hope to see him continue to have success.

04/07/2019 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Braxton continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the bump, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 71 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

10/03/2018 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Braxton is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic. On the mound, Braxton gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Braxton shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 62-65mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits at 65mph with sinking action. In the field, Braxton shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and leads well with his lower half, making solid contact. With three more years to develop, Braxton has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Braxton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Fastball shows a range of 65-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/15/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Auburndale (Tampa), FL Braxton is an athletic 2021 LHP/OF prospect. In the OF, Braxton has an active prep step and works behind the ball. He has a clean exchange and a smooth crow hop. At the plate, Braxton starts in a squared stance and recognizes pitches well. He uses his lower half and makes hard contact to the pull side. On the bump, Braxton gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and drives off the backside. He has good tempo in his delivery and keeps a strong glove side. Braxton will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

06/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series Braxton is a talented 2-way player whose positive energy rubs off on those around him. He works hard day in and day out and is very coachable. On the mound, this lefty works to a controlled balance point and has smooth separation with glove-side lead. He works downhill and stays directional toward the dish, repeating his delivery well. Arm works free & clean as he pounds the zone with strikes and competes. FB now tops out at 59 mph while showing slight tailing action. Breaking ball has 2/8 shape with slider like spin - proving to be a tough pitch for hitters to square up. He finishes complete and in an athletic fielding position. Working on the towel drill will help to emphasize his follow through which will aid in his development on the mound. In the OF, he shows active footwork with proper routes tracking down fly-balls hit into the gaps. He works behind and through the ball with an aggressive crow-hop, firing accurate throws. As a hitter - Dukes has centered balance with a strong base. He takes a hack, working to jump on first pitch FB's. Braxton was awarded the camp MVP as he not only showed an advanced skill-set but also has the mental makeup that any coach would love. We look forward to seeing this young 2-way player progress in the years to come.

07/30/2015 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Braxton is a 2021 grad projecting as a 2-way player. In the OF, Braxton sets himself well with efficient routes to the fly-ball. His transfer is smooth with a strong arm to the cutoff man. On the mound, Braxton gathers well with a strong backside. He works the ball in and out challenging hitters. Working downhill and continuing to refine his off speed pitches will improve his pitching stock. At the plate, this LHH has good rhythm from a square/balanced stance. He gets to an athletic, power position and at contact fires his backside through helping to create some pop off of his barrel. Braxton has worked hard and continuously shows improvements every time we see him. He was a standout player at the event with his attitude and he has leadership qualities that coaches will love.

05/26/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Jupiter, FL Braxton is a 2-way player as an OF/LHP. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and works into position behind the fly-ball. He fields the ball cleanly, gathers well, and works through it toward his target. With the bat, Braxton shows a balanced approach with simple actions. He swings on a level path and hits the ball up the middle. On the mound, this LHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He keeps his eyes on the target and repeats his delivery well. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
