Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Braxton is a 2018 OF with a projectable frame (6'2", 170lbs). In the OF, Braxton has good footwork and catches the ball with firm hands. He gets good momentum to throw with his crow hop as he comes over the top to throw. Braxton can improve defensively by taking deeper routes to the ball and by incorporating a long toss program to build up his arm strength. At the plate, Braxton sets up in a tall stance and strides to the ball on time. He shows good power as he swings on plane through the zone with good bat speed. He makes hard contact which produces solid line drives. Braxton can improve as a hitter by getting his stride foot down sooner to improve his timing. With two more years to develop, Braxton has the tools and potential to develop into a player who can contribute at the next level.

07/30/2015 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown Braxton improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date. Defensive abilities have improved, now as he displays smooth/athletic actions. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet well in his lateral movements as he covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands/feet work well through the fielding process and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life and carry on his throws. At the plate, he only showed from the right side and has improved his hitting/power grades. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He shows good barrel accuracy with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/31/2014 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Braxton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the field he shows the knowledge of the position with the ability to field the ball right at him. Braxton also shows soft/sure hands and gets them to a solid ready position. He needs to work on his lateral movement to improve his range at third base. At the plate, Braxton shows the ability to hit well from both sides of the plate with a balanced swing, good separation, and a direct/level hand path. On the bump, Braxton is an athletic pitcher who shows good arm action/speed, and controls the zone well. He is a very aggressive pitcher, and isn't scared to attack the zone early in the count.

07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Vero Beach (Ages 12-14) Braxton is a young primary 3rd baseman. In the infield, he has firm hands, active feet, and shows playable range. He works well around the ball and follows his throws with good accuracy. At the plate, he has a crouched setup, smooth load, and takes a short stride. He uses his lower half well and makes solid contact consistently. Braxton has a bright future in the game and will be a fun player to watch as he gets older.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
