01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Brayton is an athletic SS/pitching prospect who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the field, Brayton shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he makes on-line throws through his target. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through an athletic setup. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud line drives and great raw power (96mph exit velo). In addition, Wilmes jumped on the bump and sat 85-87mph with a running two-seamer and accompanied that with a late bending curveball that froze a few hitters. Overall, Brayton is a talented prospect who has the skill set to excel at the next level and possibly beyond.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brayton continues to show as a top prospect at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. At SS, feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / clean and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally (7.12 60 time) and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with on line carry (88 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, hands are quick (94 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, he is controlled gathering to his balance point and works with quick arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 84 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 65-73 mph with 11/5 break. Changeup sits from 71-74 mph with arm side run. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

07/17/2019 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Brayton is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Under Armour Southwest Championships. In the field, Brayton takes a good first step and shows quick footwork. He gets into position on time and fields the ball out in front of his body. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting his hands activated in his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a compact swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Brayton gathers over the rubber and shows fluid hand separation. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Brayton shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 84mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 65mph with 11-5 break. Overall, Brayton is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brayton is a MIF who is a top prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. In the MIF, he has plus lateral range working from the ground up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (87 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. Brayton has the makings of a special type player and will gets looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Brayton is hard working and talented 2 way player. At, SS Brayton has active pre pitch movement and presents a low/early glove. He works from the ground up and creates momentum with his lower half to his target. At the plate, Brayton starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He creates separation and attacks the inside part of the ball. On the bump, Brayton gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has good tempo in his delivery. Brayton will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/27/2017 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Brayton is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Freshman Fall Classic. In the field, Brayton shows active footwork and gains ground well. He gets into a low position and fields the ball with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives. On the mound, Brayton gathers over the rubber well and extends through on his release. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with good sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 59-62mph with 11-5 break. Overall, Brayton is a talented, young prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Brayton is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. In the field, Brayton shows fluid movements and is very agile moving to field the ball. He gets into a low, athletic position and presents his hand out front to field the ball softly. He has a clean exchange to throw with a short, loose arm action from a high 3/4 angle. He gains momentum well on his throws and shows a quick release which allows his throws to remain accurate to his target. Brayton can improve defensively by quickening his exchange and by stepping directly toward his target on his throws. At the plate, Brayton sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through the zone with his lower half. He takes an on-plane route to the ball with fast bat speed, leading to hard contact and line drives to all fields. On the mound, Brayton shows a clean delivery and a live arm. His fastball sits from 74-78mph with late arm side run and sinking action. Brayton can improve as a pitcher by finishing more with his chest over his front knee. Overall, Brayton is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

05/08/2016 - National Tryout - Lakewood (Denver), CO Brayton continues to progress on the diamond. This athletic SS moves well laterally and has fluid actions, picking out the hops well. Exchange is clean with accurate throws to 1B. As a hitter - this righty lets the ball travel and drives it back up the middle of the field. On the mound, Brayton works to a controlled balance point and drives in-line toward the dish. FB tops out at 70 mph as he works it to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with good action. Only a 2021 grad - Wilmes has a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Brayton is showing improvements to all areas of his game from outing to outing with Baseball Factory, while maintaining the same distinct intangibles that help set him apart. Offensively, he delivered the barrel on a direct path to contact with loose actions and hand/hip coordination. He kept his hands inside at contact and had plus rhythm through his process. Defensively at short, he showed flashes of range, working to a fielding position on-time with his hands in front. He was sure to field with the glove and played through ground balls to add momentum and life to his throws. On the mound, he threw a FB with tail up to 66, and spun an 11/5 CB from 58-60. he was mechanically sound, working quickly pitch to pitch with good leg drive and direction. In all - Brayton still has two years before his high school career begins, but is already showing a skill-set and upward trend of growth that offers potential and superior play at that level.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Brayton is a 2-way player who shows solid athletic ability. Defensively as a catcher, he puts his athleticism on display working around pitches in the dirt quickly, especially in game situations. He has good body control but will improve by working more on the balls of his feet which will increase his lateral range. As a RHP, Brayton has a clean arm action and separates smoothly, on-time during his delivery. He mixes his pitches and works around the zone to challenge hitters mental approach. At the plate, Brayton shows a confident approach as he looks to take a hack. He swings on a level path and drives the ball up the middle of the field. To improve offensively he can focus on his hand positioning in his setup to make sure he gets back into a loaded position consistently. This will also help him to control the barrel more efficiently. Brayton is young and still has a lot of time to develop.

05/04/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Brayton continues to shine. This athlete has all-around solid skills on the diamond. Behind the dish, he sits in well and presents a low target. He has a clean exchange to throw, gains ground, and delivers accurate throws to 2B. At the plate, this RHH is short/direct to and through the zone. He squares the ball up and hits in on a line. On the bump, Wilmes has a 3-pitch mix coming from a loose arm action. He has quiet/simple mechanics and drives off the rubber in-line toward the plate. FB now tops out at 60 mph as arm strength will continue to increase with a long toss program. Brayton has skills and will only continue to improve as he has a lot of time to still develop.

06/27/2013 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Brayton is a young two-way player with a thin but athletic body. Behind the plate Brayton has a good glove, keeping his eyes on target. He has a clean exchange on his throws but needs to continue to work on his arm strength. Brayton receives the ball well in the zone but could improve by being more aggressive in his blocking. On the mound Brayton throws a lot of strikes and has sound mechanics, with a short, compact delivery and good front side. Getting more explosive with his lower half will improve his velocity. Offensively, Brayton has a good approach, letting the ball travel and staying back/centered in his swing. He has good balance and could show gap to gap power as he gets older. Brayton should continue to work on being more explosive in his hip rotation and staying in on the inside pitch. Overall Brayton has a lot of potential. He is very coachable and shows a drive to get better. As he continues to grow physically his more refined mechanics will show on the bigger diamond.

05/05/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Brayton is a thin, 2-way player who pitches and catches. On the hill, Brayton has a long / loose arm action, a controlled balance point, and smooth separation. He has level shoulders, eyes on target, and he finishes in a complete position. Behind the plate, Brayton has soft hands, a good base, and he sticks the ball well. He blocks quick, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with a long arm action to 2nd base. Offensively, Brayton has a square set-up, he lets the ball travel well, and he makes square contact. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
