10/07/2015 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Brendan continued to show as a catcher and has improved his baseball tools with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He uses his lower half well and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he shows plus power potential to all fields. At the event, he was 3 for 11 with a 3B. Foot speed is outstanding and he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in working in line to his target through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.00, displaying outstanding arm strength. Throws are accurate with on line carry as he displays a quick / clean release. Receiving / blocking skills are outstanding, showing as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is a leader behind plate.

03/22/2015 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Brendan showcased both power and speed in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he shows natural ability to accelerate the barrel through the zone with leverage off his front side. He has late barrel explosion that enables him to drive the ball gap-to-gap with plus extension. Behind the plate, he sits easy and receives in front with a soft glove. He sticks the low pitches and anticipates down to block. His arm continues to show strength as he now flashes pops in the 2.0 range while hitting 85 on the gun. In the OF, he displayed efficient feet and good body control to make plays with his sure glove. His above average foot speed - 6.84 sixty - enabled him to gain ground on the ball and throw with momentum to his target. In all - Brendan is beginning to show attributes of the elite, with both explosive quickness and strength.

03/10/2013 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Brendan is an exciting young prospect (2016 grad). He profiles best as an athletic catcher, though he is versatile enough to also play the corner outfield spots. Behind the plate he is flexible, sits quietly to receive and shows a feel for the position. He is solid on balls in the dirt, though he can continue to get into blocking position more efficiently. Some refinements to his set-up and footwork will continue to help, but the foundation is there for a high quality catcher. At the plate Brendan shows a mature approach: tracking the ball well, spraying line drives to all fields and controlling the barrel. More strength in his lower half will benefit him across the board and help to accelerate his development. Overall, Brendan is a prospect to watch over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
