08/02/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Brendan is a coachable RHP/SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. On the mound, Brendan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, finishing square to the plate. Brendan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 70-72mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Striding square toward the plate can help Brendan improve as a pitcher. In the field, Brendan makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Brendan can improve defensively by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a tall stance and works to barrel up the baseball, using the entire field well. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Brendan improve as a hitter. Overall, Brendan is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/06/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Utica (Detroit), MI Brendan is a (5'9"/155) RHP who has a 3-pitch mix. On the mound, this righty works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and works in-line toward the dish. He keeps his eyes on the target and repeats his delivery well. FB tops out at 78 mph while showing good arm-side run. Curveball has 10/4 shape with 'slider' like spin and will become more effective as he is more consistent with his release point. He works to keep his CH low in the zone, throwing it with FB arm speed helping to create some deception and complimenting his FB well. Getting more glove-side lead/tuck while finishing with extension will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. At the plate, Brendan swings it both righty and lefty. He shows similarly from both sides. He maintains a quiet head, tracks pitches into the zone and takes a hack at the ones he likes. He connects and looks to drive the ball back up the middle of the field. Only a 2023 grad - Monville has tools with still time to progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
