Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic Brendan is a big primary 1B that also pitches. In the infield he has sure hands, fields out front, and has proper footwork around the bag. Would like to see a quicker first step to get better jumps on the ball to make him a more complete infielder. On the mound the lefty has a repeatable delivery, good tempo, and throws strikes with his fastball and changeup. He has a fluid arm action and is a competitor attacking hitters with his 2 pitch mix. With more lower half and arm extension, Brendan has the potential to add more velocity and should be a solid pitcher at the next level. At the plate he has good balance, uses his lower half well, and delivers the barrel with good accuracy. He made solid contact during games and shows power potential with his consistent swing.

07/15/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Plano, TX Brendan is an athletic, average sized, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Brendan has a short arm action, he gets good front arm extension, and he works to his balance point well. He mixes his pitches well and he competes in the zone. Defensively, Brendan has sure hands, fluid footwork, and he fields the ball athletically. He has good body control, his exchange is quick, and he throws with consistency from a short / loose arm to his target. Offensively, Brendan has a tall set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He stays inside the ball, he makes consistent contact, and he hits to the opposite field well. Abilities can improve if Brendan can work on the following.

1. Finish
2. Level shoulders
3. Lengthen arm action
1. Backhand
2. Field out front
3. Long toss
1. More load
2. Rhythm
3. More lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
