06/09/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas This athletic 2B shows a tremendous future on the diamond. A RHH - hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. He has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Defensively, he takes a quick first step and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip on his throws. Defensive abilities are near a pro level as he shows big play potential. Brenden has a ton of upside and possesses the skill-set that will play at a very high level.

02/25/2018 - National Tryout Plus - West, TX Brenden is a strong, athletic 2B prospect with strong tools in all phases of the game. He has the tantalizing combination of speed and power that he puts to use with extra base hits and base stealing ability. At the dish, his bat speed is explosive through the zone as he gets on plane early and works directly to contact. He delivers the barrel consistently to smoke the ball to all fields. At second, he can pick it with great hands and quick feet. He is athletic to cover tons of ground and make all the plays. Brenden is a big time prospect with endless potential on the field.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brenden gets better each time we see him. He plays the game hard and aggressively at all times, making him fun to watch. His combination of speed (6.75 in the 60), bat and natural instincts is extremely appealing to coaches at all levels. Brenden seems to have a "blue collar" mentality on the field - grinding and doing anything to help his team win. He has an excellent knack for the barrel at the plate, appearing to be unfazed by velocity and handling off-speed stuff well. At the UAAAPS Tournament he went 3-5 with a walk that included a deep triple over the centerfielder's head. The ball comes off his bat with authority and he competes very well each time he gets in the batter's box. Defensively, he moves well and can fit in several spots. At present, his primary spot is 2B where he shows dependable hands and the ability to turn the double play. Overall, Brenden is a winner who makes a positive impact each time he steps on the field.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brenden, a 2019 grad, plays beyond his years. He commands attention immediately on the field thanks to his confident body language, live body and passion for the game that shows through in his actions. He has present strength and some tools that show both in workouts and games. His right-handed stroke is more of an "old school" weight shift move that seems to be on time consistently. He has very good eye/hand coordination and combines that with a clean move through contact to square up balls with some authority. He doubled and tripled in game play, both to the middle of the field, showing his maturity and pop as a hitter. Defensively he anticipates well, has a good first step and shows dependable hands. He is capable of making plays in any direction and on the run - finishing plays from different arm slots. Profiling now as an offensive 2B, it will be interesting to see this impact prospect develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
