06/22/2012 - Maryland Select Training & Competition Brenden is a 2016 graduate who plays outfield and also catches. In the outfield, Brenden has sure hands and active footwork. He plays through the ball well and shows agile range. He is very athletic in the field and is aggressive and takes charge in the field. Behind the plate, Brenden is very raw and shows firm hands when receiving. He gives a good target, but needs to work on his blocking ability. His release behind the plate is a little long, so he needs to work on his quickness. At the plate, he has an athletic set up with a nice load and takes a short stride. He has good balance and uses his lower half well. He has fast bat speed and squares the baseball every time and makes consistent contact. Brenden is a very athletic player who can play anywhere. He has a lot of potential at the plate and shows raw power. With more experience and work, Brenden can be an impact player at the next level and should have a very nice career ahead of him.

12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Brenden is an athletic/strong 2016 graduate who is a C/OF. Behind the plate, he showed good arm strength and accuracy to his target but he needs to shorten his arm action. He has an athletic/flexible setup and a quick exchange. When blocking the ball, he centers/deadens and he has very good agility. He needs to work at his receiving as his hands are hard and he tends to stab at the ball. He also needs to try and smoothen out his footwork. At the plate, Brenden has an athletic setup, a short stride, and great bat speed. He makes hard contact and he has well above average power. He needs to shorten his swing and work on his rhythm/timing as his load is too late. Brenden has a lot of potential both as a hitter and a position player. He has as good/athletic body structure as you can have with very good speed. If Brenden works hard on the fundamentals and matures as a person/player there is no limit to what he can accomplish.

06/27/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Pittsburgh, PA Brenden is an athletic, 2-way player with a solid build and a strong lower 1/2. In the OF, Brenden has active feet, playable hands, and he is aggressive to the ball. He has good lateral movements, fields in an athletic position, and he makes plays. Brenden has a clean exchange, and he throws with a loose arm action with life and carry to his target. Behind the plate, Brenden quick feet, decent hands, and he plays on the balls of his feet. He blocks the ball well, keeps it in front, and he sets his feet well to throw. Brenden has a long / quick arm action with average strength to 2nd base. At the plate, Brenden has a square / athletic set-up, a proper load, and a short / square stride. He has good balance, average bat speed, and he has pop to the pull side. Overall numbers can further improve if Brenden can work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicken exchange
2. Improve accuracy
3. Long toss
Catching
1. Narrow up base
2. Lower target
3. Quicken exchange
Offense
1. Earlier load
2. Shorten swing
3. Rhythm / Timing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
