Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

07/20/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Brendon showed again as a two way player with a very tall/strong frame at 6'6/210 lbs. Offensively, from the left side he looked the part and generated good bat speed to hit with pop when centered. He squared up balls on the inner half and has a chance to hit at the next level. In the OF, he covered ground and was light on his feet to get to his spots. He was sure with the glove and threw on-line to his targets. On the hill, the southpaw threw his FB with run and sink, and showed a 2/8 CB from 67-69. He was mechanically sound, with loose arm action and front side extension to finish pitches. He had good presence with his frame and with a third pitch has a chance to make his way into a starting rotation. In all - Brendon has a rare build for a ball player with height and strength with an ability to do it all on the diamond.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brendon showed up to participate in the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament two inches taller now standing with a 6'5/195 lbs frame. On the mound, the southpaw ran his FB up to 86 and spun a SL with 9/3 shape & sharp action from 70-71. He had a quick arm, and got extended out in front to deliver his pitches. Mechanically, he worked on-time to separate and took a proper square stride to land. He showed a chest over front knee finish and is teeming with projection. At the plate, he kept his head quiet and had balance throughout the swing to hit in the middle of the field. He showed some gap pop and has a chance to hit at the next level. All in all - with his frame and present ability, Brendon has a very high ceiling in this game.

07/29/2014 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Brendon continues to show as a OF but showed on the mound for the first time at the event and shows a ton of potential at both positions. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.15. Defensive grade in the OF have improved, now showing tremendous abilities as he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are light, quick as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is outstanding as he reads balls well off the bat, covering a lot of ground. Arm strength is at a pro level as he topped out at 90 mph at the arm strength station. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry into his target. At the plate, hitting grades has improved, now showing solid abilities with superior power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 2 for 9 with a 2B. On the mound, he shows a tremendous upside. Fastball showed a range of 82-86 mph with arm side run / sink. Breaking ball is an outstanding pitch, displaying 1/7 shape with sharp breaking action. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Brendon has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

01/20/2014 - College PREP - Tucson, AZ Brendon is a promising L/L two-way player (OF/1B) that ran a 7.41 sixty and hit 83 MPH on the gun. In the outfield, he showed the proper footwork to the ball and throws with good carry to his target. His 6'3"/195 lbs frame covers ground with ease and his sure hands secure the ball in the glove. At first base, he shows as a big target with good playability. He fields in front and with soft hands, leading to a quick, smooth transfer. Offensively, the LHH has natural leverage and good rhythm. He has a solid base and attacks the zone with a short stroke and good hand/hip coordination. Overall - Brendon is an intriguing prospect that will make a positive contribution at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
