07/25/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Brendt played 1B and threw off the mound during his time at the UA Southwest. Defensively, Brendt has good pre-pich actions, good bag awareness, and he fields the ball cleanly and smoothly. He can scoop it out of the dirt, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency to his target. On the hill, Brendt stands over the rubber well balanced, he keeps his eyes on target, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Brendt has a line drive approach, he loads well, and he stands in well balanced. He swings on plane and has pop in his bat. Brendt is a positive/coachable young man who wants to get better.

04/29/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Phoenix, AZ Brendt continues to show well and improve his game. In the 60, Brendt has maintained his speed showing a well above average time (7.22). At 1B, He uses efficient feet to cover ground and get into a square fielding position to make plays. Brendt could improve his glove by attacking ground balls more and presenting his hands out front. He shows a long arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot and makes consistently accurate throws to his targets on a line. Brendt could see more velocity on his throws by using more of his body's momentum. At the plate, he continues to show solid mechanics getting extension through the ball. He makes consistently hard contact with the ball using the whole field with his line drive approach. Brendt shows promise in his game and, with more development, could play at the next level and make an impact.

01/15/2018 - College PREP - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Brendt is a tall, solid, and athletic 1B/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 69 time of 7.15. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft /sure but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 67-68 mph with arm side run. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Brendt has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
