Official Scouting Report

01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brennan is an aggressive, instinctive player with tremendous baserunning ability. Offensively, he is direct with his hands and gets the barrel around to make square contact with an on-plane swing path. While he uses his lower half partially, there is more power that can be tapped into. Defensively, the shortstop has good lateral range and the arm strength to make plays in the 6 hole. His backhand footwork is clean/fluid and he has a quick/clean exchange with his double-play feeds. Brennan should have a solid year as a junior and look to be an impact guy come fall of his freshman year.

10/17/2012 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Cascio continues to show plus abilities in his baseball tools. At SS, feet are quick / athletic as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body, displaying soft / clean hands. Arm strength is outstanding with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, Brennan continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to use his lower half more through the swing. At the event, he was 6 for 9 with a 2B and once on bases he utilizes his quick feet to put pressure on defenses. Mental makeup is a plus as he is aggressive and plays hard with a positive attitude.

08/05/2012 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Brennan is a SS with athletic actions who excels defensively. At SS, Brennan has soft / sure hands, fluid feet, and he fields in a low / athletic position. He has a clean / quick exchange, and throws with a loose arm with life to his target. At the plate, Brennan has a square set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He has fast bat speed, a level / rhythmic swing. A looser grip and more lower 1/2 will help improve hitting numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
