07/06/2011 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Brennan is a solid, athletic two-way player at 3B and on the mound that will graduate in 2013. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level but has solid abilities on the mound. Foot speed is slightly above average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks while playing through ground balls. Hands are soft, clean, and sure but get deep due to late presentation. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry through his target. Offensively, Gilyard continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a slight load and solid feel for the barrel to the pull side due to long swing path. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-82 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and late sharp break. Changeup shows a solid feel for with sinking action. He shows 3 quality pitches and throws strikes with all. With 2 years to further develop, Brennan has the makings to be a special type player, possibly a two-way guy and will get a lot of looks from the collegiate coaches.
