01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Miller continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and impressed many with his abilities behind the plate at the Preseason All American event. At the plate, hitting grades are now tremendous with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times showed a range of 2.05 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He plays with a ton of energy and shows the ability to handle a pitching staff with his receiving / blocking skills. Brent has the makings of a special type player at the next level and will get looks from the collegiate coaches.

05/31/2015 - National Tryout - Keizer (Salem), OR Brent continues to show in the OF and also behind the plate as a catcher for the first time at the event with a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he works to get behind balls to play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with on line carry as he shows outstanding arm strength. Behind the dish, pop times showed a range of 2.03-2.20 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly through a clean transfer / exchange. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, power grades have improved, now displaying well above average power potential through an athletic setup. He gets to a strong launch position and shows quick hands that work through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he displays strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently.

10/01/2014 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Brent is a two-way player - OF/RHP that competed well at the AZ Freshman / Sophomore Fall Classic with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he hit with strength to all fields with good plate discipline. He flashed line-drive ability with plus pop and worked to stay direct with his swing path. Defensively, he made plays in the outfield, moving well to balls in front. He was active in his pre-pitch movement and got good reads off the bat. His glove is sure and he fields the position well. On the hill, he throws a FB and CB with a good repeatable tempo. He changes looks and holds runners on well. Brent needs to work to perfect his separation to prevent delay in his arm action and to improve his finish. All in all - Brent is a good player that has the fundamentals necessary to add strength to for next level play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
