11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Bret is a 2023 two-way prospect who works hard and is always looking for ways to improve his game. He shows advanced bat to ball skills with good hand eye coordination and barrel feel to make consistent, solid contact. He doesnt get cheated at the plate, showing a big swing with extension through the ball as he looks to drive it to all fields. His lower half is strong to generate bat speed and pop as he shows the ability to deliver the barrel to the ball. At the hot corner, he shows smooth hands and athletic actions to move laterally and field the ball cleanly. He can make plays to both sides of his body with a good glove angle and shows a clean exchange to get rid of the ball on feeds and throws to first. On the mound, this righty shows a fastball, curveball mix, touching 60mph on the fastball and getting 10-4 shape on the curve. He is aggressive in the zone and attacks each hitter to work ahead and try to put them away. Getting to a consistent balance point will keep his body in sync and allow his stuff to be more consistent. Bret is an intriguing prospect we want to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.

08/08/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Bret is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Defensively at 3B, he takes solid angles and gets square when fielding GB's. He comes up with a clean exchange and makes on-line throws to his target. On the hill, this righty gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes locked in. He separates on time, delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot and works in line towards home plate. On offense with the stick, Bret displays a square setup with fluid rhythm to load. He swings on a direct bat path through the zone and consistently drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Better DP feeds
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Strong frontside
2. Be a strike thrower
3. Finish strong
Offense
1. Work on timing
2. Improve bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
