10/05/2008 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Brett is a young two way player on the mound and at 2B with a tall, lanky body that shows projection as it continues to physically mature. In the infield, defensive abilities are solid average as he displays athletic actions. Foot speed is average and needs to get on a speed program /agilities to improve for the next level. He does show lateral movement but needs to be more aggressive with his feet in coming to get the baseball. Arm strength is solid average displaying life and carry. He does need to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further building more arm strength. At the plate, Hudson has slightly average ability and power. Swing path is direct and level and works to keep his hands inside the baseball. He is a line drive type hitter in which power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows solid arm side run with late life and plus command to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball displays a 10/4 shape, tight spin with late action. Changeup is his best off speed pitch showing a good feel for with sinking action. Throws a split finger that is only average. Delivery is loose, clean and repeatable with direction and solid tempo. With 2 years to further develop, Brett has the makings to be a solid player at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
