Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/2BPosition Projection

06/08/2014 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Pokley continues to show as a 3B/RHP but currently projects slightly better on the mound for the next level where he has improved his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 80 mph. Fastball showed a range of 76-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape, tight spin, and late depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a fell for with arm side run. Off speed pitches show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Defensive grade at 3B have improved as well now showing well above average. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.92 60 time. Feet are active as he moves well laterally, displaying range and works to square balls up. Hands are soft, sure and he presents well out front. He will continue to improve as he attacks balls more and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. He is aggressive and attacks balls with his hands and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing the middle of the field well. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time.

06/10/2013 - College PREP - Troy, MI Brett is a solid, athletic, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Brett has soft hands, active footwork, and he fields out front. He has athletic actions, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short arm action with consistency across the diamond. Quicker feet, and not throwing against his body can help INF abilities improve. On the mound, Brett has a sound arm action, a smooth delivery, and he finishes in a complete position. More glove side lead and drive off the rubber can help mound effectiveness spike. Offensively, Brett has a middle approach with good balance and a square setup. He is short to the ball, he finds the barrel, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. More load and better timing can help spike hitting.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
