Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

08/25/2019 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Brett is a solid, athletic 2B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, defensive abilities are tremendous as he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove actions is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-65 mph with 10/4 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder, 62-63 mph with tight spin and short break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run and sink. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Brett has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
