Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

02/21/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pittsburgh, PA Brian is a RHP/3B prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame stocky build with strength present. At 3B, showed active feet and ability to close distance on batted balls. He plays downhill, with ability to create good fielding angles, and has good direction towards target. He made accurate throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 72mph to first base. On the mound, he works with good direction down the mound and has a controlled landing. He attacks hitters with a FB that sat 65-67mph with some cutting action, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup with cutting action. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance. A good setup to start, with good knowledge of the strike zone, and swings with intent. During BP, he hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 86mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Brian making huge strides on the baseball field.

03/28/2021 - All-In Membership - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Brian is a 2025 OF/3B. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and projectable frame with room to fill throughout. Primary OF tries to create good angles. Tries to work behind and through the ball. High 3/4 arm slot with accurate and online throws into infield. Secondary 3B, with developing actions who works through the baseball. Fields from a low and square position. Keeps eyes behind the ball and tires to field the ball out front. Shows good accuracy across the diamond from a high 3/4 slot. Right-handed hitter begins with an upright and open stance. Glides into contact, stays short and direct to the ball. Linear path through the zone and tries to get extension out front. Line drive approach who sprayed balls to all fields during his BP round. As he continues to mature and develop, we see him having a promising career at the high school level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
