02/18/2013 - College PREP - Warwick, RI Brian is a L/L 2-way player as a 1B/LHP who has skills defensively. At 1B, he maintains active footwork, moving around the groundball. He presents his glove out in front and fields the ball working from the ground up. On the mound, Cox throws 3 different pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action. He displays plus control with the ability to throw strikes with all of his pitches. Brian works in-line toward the plate and finish out over his front side, getting good extension. Staying on top of his CB will help it to have tighter spin and sharper action. At the plate, Brian gets into square setup with a simple approach. He tracks the ball into the zone, gets his lower 1/2 through and creates extension through contact. Loosening up his mechanics and speeding up his bat speed will improve his abilities as a hitter. Brian is only a 2014 graduate and still has time to improve on his game.
