09/07/2008 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Brian is a young catcher with a tall, strong and athletic looking body that is suited for the position. Arm strength is near above average displaying life and carry into his target. He does need to continue to build arm strength through a strict long toss program. Feet are somewhat heavy but he does show good direction with his feet through the throwing process. Stance and set up are solid in the receiving process allowing a soft glove action that sticks and works around the baseball. Blocking skills are slightly average and needs some instruction to improve. At the plate, Crider has above average ability with well above average power. Bat speed is a plus and he extends through the point of contact creating backspin and carry. He has strength in his swing and will drive the baseball. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more through the swing. With 2 years to further develop, Brian could develop into a top collegiate player and possibly a draft guy.
