09/14/2014 - College PREP - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Brian is a solid, athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 3B. Behind the plate, Brian has sure hands, good lateral quickness, and good body control. He has good flexibility, blocks softly, and throws with a short arm action with accuracy to 2nd base. Catching skills can improve if Brian can stay tall when blocking, get to his feet quicker, and add arm strength. At 3B, Brian has good pre-pitch actions, good body control, and sure hands. He has a good 1st step to the ball, fields out front, and throws with accuracy from a clean arm action to his target. Quicker feet and a softer backhand will only help spike defensive INF skills. At the plate, Brian has a balanced set-up, good balance, and direct hands to the ball. He swings in good rhythm, he has fast bat speed, and he squares the ball up well on the barrel of the bat. Brian has solid pop in his bat and with a little softer stride, hitting can continue to get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
