09/24/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West Brian is a talented 2-way play with an intriguing set of tools. As a position player he has an advanced feel for the barrel while hitting from the left side. He has present strength and, when in sync, drives the ball with authority - especially to the pull side. He went 1-3 with a walk in game play making several good passes at quality pitches. Brian also has excellent hands and a natural feel around the bag at 1B. He can make plays with both his glove and arm in the infield. Brian also has the ability to jump on the mound and get outs as a LHP. His delivery is clean and repeatable and he has a 3-pitch mix of a FB/CB/CH. His big raw arm strength (92 mph) did not translate to the mound at this event, but there is certainly more fastball velocity in his tank. Overall, this San Diego State commit is an impact recruit whose highest ceiling appears to be as a run producing 1B.
