07/07/2014 - National Tryout - Trenton, NJ
Brian showed solid/athletic ability in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he hit with a level path and good bat speed. He got his hands activated to hit and was quick to the ball with his barrel. He gets good extension through contact and is accurate with the barrel leading to plus contact frequency. Defensively, he made plays, working behind and through the ball with efficient feet. He was direct with his body momentum to throw with accuracy to his target. In all - Brian has another year to add strength to his weaknesses in preparation for the next level.
07/12/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1
Brian continues to show as LHP/OF but currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level and he has improved his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. In the OF, feet are athletic / aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. He shows good instincts, reading balls well off the bat, and backs up bases well. Throws are accurate through a long arm action but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/4 tilt with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for with arm side fade. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.
04/21/2013 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA
Brian is a lanky LHP/OF that will graduate in 2015. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He needs to attack ground balls, improve foot quickness, and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Lucy shows a squared, balanced setup. Hands work through a level swing path and he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-72 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with loose spin and early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing an outstanding feel for with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained and he works to throw more strikes.
