01/12/2018 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Brian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.60 with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to improve flexibility and work to get down sooner. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 4 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Brian is a solid 2-way player as a C/1B. With the bat, this switch hitter shows slightly more natural from the right side. He has smooth actions with rhythm to load. Swing is level as he connects with strength and drives the ball on a line. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion tracking pitches into his mitt. He sticks it and frames well. Transfer is clean with accuracy on his throws to 2B, pop times of 2.66. At 1B, he has active footwork as he gets into a square fielding position behind the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt and makes the plays. Continuing to work on the following will aid in his overall development on the diamond.

Offense
1. Contact points
2. Stride
3. More lower 1/2
Catching
1. Lateral quickness
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Transfer/exchange
Infield
1. Footwork around 1B bag
2. Pre-pitch footwork
3. Glove presentation

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
