Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2BPosition Projection

08/08/2008 - ACR-E - Maryland - 7 Brian increased his fielding grade while at this event. At 2B, had good presentation with soft hands and made accurate throws. Had quick DP feeds and turns. More aggressiveness will help keep feet moving and increase range. Long toss will improve arm strength and velocity. At the plate, square stance led to good barrel accuracy. Was able to use all fields with his level swing. Improving overall strength will help increase bat speed. Keeping hands inside ball will eliminate him from coming around ball.

07/10/2008 - Cape Cod Training 2008 - Week 1 Silverman showed strength and good hand-eye coordination at the plate. His approach was aggressive, but he must work to make sure his path is down and through contact. Also, can improve his load and needs to make sure he stays on the balls of his feet. Defensively, he showed good athleticism along with fundamentally sound footwork. Can work to improve his overall quickness and agility. Overall, a solid player with good aptitude and potential to develop further.

04/27/2008 - College PREP - Fairfax, VA Brian is a smaller player with strong legs and shows athleticism. At 2B, Brian stays down low to field and looks the ball in. He moves laterally well and hands are soft. In order to increase fielding rating, Brian needs to work on the foot work involved in turning the double play. At the plate, Brian has rhythm and balance. He keeps his swing going up the middle and hits a lot of line drives. He can work on extending his bat after contact. A good extension will help to increase backspin and carry on the ball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
