03/12/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Voorhees (Philadelphia), NJ Brian continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he has improved his hitting abilities through a squared / balance setup. Hands work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to use his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He will benefit by working to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Delivery is repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He maintains arm speed on changeup and keeps down in the zone. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/29/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Brian showed on the mound and in the OF for the first time at the event. In the OF, he utilizes his feet in covering a lot of ground and makes the routine plays. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 4 for 10 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 62-68 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He throws a knuckleball with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. Overall, Brian is a talented young prospect who will be a name to follow as he continues to develop.

07/06/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Brian is a (2020 grad) RHP who has a tall/projectable build. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix in which to keep hitters guessing. FB ranges from 67-69 mph while showing slight tailing action. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with good action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception. He maintains fluid tempo and repeats his delivery well. As a hitter - Brian shows a square setup with patience, waiting for his pitch. He takes an aggressive hack and squares the ball up with some pop when centered. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve skills on the diamond.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Stride/direction
3. Finish with extension
Offense
1. Relax/loosen grip
2. More separation on load
3. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
