Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

08/17/2014 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Urban continues to show as a 2B/RHP but currently projects best in the 2B for the next level where he has improved his abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.44 runner. He attacks ground balls through an aggressive approach and displays soft / sure hands as he makes all the plays. Lateral movement is a plus as he moves well side to side, displaying range. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents his glove more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows balance through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work inside the ball as he utilizes all fields through a line drive approach. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 70-73 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Bridger is a 2 way player who showcased in the infield and on the mound. In the infield he has firm hands, active feet, is aggressive to the ball, and has a good fielding position. At the plate he has an open setup, hands back, short stride, and uses his lower half well. Makes solid contact consistently and improved on hitting the ball to all fields. On the mound he has a smooth delivery, good balance point, and nice rhythm. Fastball continues to show arm side run with some sink and he is able to throw strikes down in the zone. With more lower half, Bridger could develop some more velocity and be a solid option on the mound.

08/18/2013 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Bridger is a solid, tall RHP/2B that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work smooth to the plate. He shows good rhythm and tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball shows a range of 69-73 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He throws a knuckleball that tumbles and flashes good dancing action. Command / control are a solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He attacks balls but needs to play through more while presenting hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength. At the plate, Urban shows an open balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Bridger has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
