07/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Brock's development has been swift and his skill set has consistently improved in all areas of the game. Defensively, he threw his best pop time to date at a 1.89, displayed advanced awareness and plays aggressively while effectively using all of his tools in a smart aggressive manner. He continues to display a solid set up with sure soft hands and a quick clean exchange. At the plate, Brock further proved that he has the potential to hit in the middle of a lineup at the college level. He showed balance from both sides of the plate with sharp barrel accuracy and generates explosive bat speed through the zone with efficient extension.

01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Brock is an attractive commodity to coaches at all levels - a switch-hitting catcher. Behind the plate he shows excellent arm strength and a clean release that is demonstrated in his times to 2B that dip under the 2.0 mark. He receives well and shows the leadership qualities that you look for in a catcher. He also is solid on balls in the dirt - one of those few guys with a "soft" chest that naturally deadens balls in front. At the plate, Brock is more advanced from LH side. He hits from a solid base, has rhythm and flashes some power to the pull side. Overall, this is an exciting young combination of tools and playability that will help a program at that next level.

10/17/2012 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Keener continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved, now showing as outstanding with throws displaying life, accuracy, and on line carry through his target. Pop times have dropped as he threw his lowest to date at 1.92. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, Brock shows as a switch hitter but currently projects better from the left side where he has improved. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 8 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays hard as he leaves everything out on the field.

06/18/2012 - College PREP - Houston, TX Brock is a tall/lanky catcher who has solid abilities. Defensively, he shows plus skills as he sits in a low position and moves well laterally to block. He has a quick/clean exchange and gets rid of the ball, showing pop times as low as 1.96. He is sure handed and makes strong throws to his target. Offensively, he shows a square setup, solid load, and good balance. Brock makes consistent contact and hits line-drives. Smoother rhythm/timing will and by using more lower 1/2, his hitting abilities will improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
